Welcome to the Skegness Civic Society

The purpose of the web site is to publicise the activities of the society and also to raise awareness of issues which may have an impact on the heritage of Skegness, both for the present generation and for future generations.

Skegness heritage

Skegness is probably best known for being a seaside resort, with all the connotations that this evokes. It is a lively resort, and it can be pretty boisterous.

But it is a traditional seaside town, its heritage is that of the traditional British seaside resort.

It has its share of traditional features, but it also has some un-traditional features.

The British seaside town is part of the national heritage, and the society is determined to preserve as much of this national heritage as possible, while encouraging the sympathetic development of the town.
